The difinitive history of Gold Hill, Nevada.

As the fame of the Comstock silver mines spread throughout the world in the 1860s, the names of the two towns straddling the surface over the great Comstock Lode soard into prominence.  Gold Hill and Virginia City shared "equal billing" for more than 40 years. But after the bonanza years were long gone, only the name of Virginia City remained synonymous with the enduring fame of the Comstock.  The name, Gold Hill, is derived from the site of the original gold claims.  The town of Gold Hill was incorporated in 1862 and developed its own municipal government with Marshalls, policemen, fire departments, newspapers, banks, merchants and entertainment.  Both mines and mills abounded in Gold Hill as they did in Virginia City.  This is the only history of Gold Hill available.  Don't miss it.
